Origin & History
From Greek anaphorá ‘a carrying back, a reference’, from aná ‘back, again’ + phorá ‘a carrying’ (from phérein ‘to carry’), via Late Latin/Renaissance scholarly use.
यूनानी anaphorá (अर्थ: ‘पीछे की ओर ले जाना/संदर्भ’) से, जिसमें aná (‘पीछे/फिर से’) + phorá (‘ढोना/ले जाना’, मूल: phérein ‘ले जाना’) शामिल हैं; बाद में उत्तर-लैटिन/पुनर्जागरणकालीन विद्वत प्रयोग के जरिए अंग्रेज़ी में आया।
Definition
Anaphora is (1) a rhetorical technique where the same word or phrase is repeated at the start of successive lines, clauses, or sentences for emphasis and rhythm; and (2) in linguistics/grammar, a kind of reference where a word (like a pronoun) points back to something previously mentioned (its antecedent).
अनाफोरा (1) एक अलंकार/वाक्-शैली की तकनीक है जिसमें जोर और लय के लिए लगातार वाक्यों/उपवाक्यों/पंक्तियों की शुरुआत में एक ही शब्द या वाक्यांश दोहराया जाता है; और (2) भाषाविज्ञान/व्याकरण में, ऐसा संदर्भ जिसमें कोई शब्द (जैसे सर्वनाम) पहले बताए गए शब्द/वाक्यांश (पूर्वपद) की ओर संकेत करता है।
