From Middle English aftermath, originally meaning ‘a second mowing’ or ‘second growth of grass’; from after + math (Old English mæð ‘mowing’). The modern sense ‘consequences following an event’ developed later.
यह शब्द मध्य अंग्रेज़ी aftermath से आया है, जिसका मूल अर्थ ‘दूसरी कटाई’ या ‘घास की दूसरी बढ़त’ था; after + math (पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी mæð ‘कटाई’) से बना। बाद में इसका आधुनिक अर्थ ‘किसी घटना के बाद आने वाले परिणाम/असर’ विकसित हुआ।
