Definition
Xanthophyll is a class of yellow-to-orange plant pigments (oxygenated carotenoids) found in leaves, flowers, algae, and many fruits; they help capture light energy and protect tissues from excess light, and common examples include lutein and zeaxanthin.
জ্যান্থোফিল হলো হলুদ থেকে কমলা রঙের উদ্ভিদ-রঞ্জকের (অক্সিজেনযুক্ত ক্যারোটিনয়েড) একটি শ্রেণি, যা পাতা, ফুল, শৈবাল ও অনেক ফলের মধ্যে থাকে; এগুলি আলোকশক্তি আহরণে সাহায্য করে এবং অতিরিক্ত আলো থেকে টিস্যুকে রক্ষা করে; সাধারণ উদাহরণ লুটেইন ও জিয়্যাক্সান্থিন।
