“Worship” শব্দটি এসেছে প্রাচীন ইংরেজি weorðscipe থেকে, যার অর্থ ছিল ‘যোগ্যতা/মর্যাদা/সম্মান’; পরে তা ‘উপাসনা/ভক্তি প্রকাশ করা’ অর্থে ক্রিয়া হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। “Worshipped” হলো তার নিয়মিত অতীত রূপ (ব্রিটিশ বানানে সাধারণত -p- দ্বিত্ব হয়)।
Definition
“Worshipped” is the past form of “worship.” It means (1) showed reverence and devotion to God/a deity through prayer or religious acts, (2) adored or idolized a person/thing with excessive admiration, or (3) took part in a worship service.
