From velar (from Latin velum “veil; soft palate”) + -ization, referring to making a sound velar/velum-influenced.
velar (লাতিন velum থেকে, অর্থ “পর্দা; নরম তালু/ভেলাম”) + -ization; অর্থাৎ কোনো ধ্বনিকে ভেলার/ভেলাম-প্রভাবিতভাবে উচ্চারিত করা।
Definition
Velarization is a type of secondary articulation where, in addition to the main place of articulation, the back of the tongue moves toward the velum; it commonly affects liquids such as /l/ (e.g., “dark l”).
ভেলারাইজেশন হলো এক ধরনের গৌণ উচ্চারণ (secondary articulation), যেখানে প্রধান উচ্চারণস্থানের পাশাপাশি জিহ্বার পশ্চাৎভাগ নরম তালু/ভেলামের দিকে উঁচু হয়; এটি প্রায়ই /l/–এর মতো তরল ধ্বনিকে প্রভাবিত করে (যেমন “ডার্ক এল”).
