From Latin velocitas (“swiftness”), from velox (“swift”), via French vélocité; used in scientific English to mean speed with direction.
লাতিন velocitas (“দ্রুততা”) থেকে, যা এসেছে velox (“দ্রুত”) শব্দ থেকে; ফরাসি vélocité হয়ে ইংরেজিতে আসে, এবং বৈজ্ঞানিক ব্যবহারে দিকসহ গতি (ভেক্টর রাশি) বোঝাতে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়।
Definition
Velocity is speed with a specified direction; in physics it is a vector equal to the rate of change of displacement with respect to time (e.g., 20 m/s north).
ভেলোসিটি (বেগ) হলো দিকসহ গতি; পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে এটি একটি ভেক্টর রাশি, যা সময়ের সাথে স্থানচ্যুতি (displacement) পরিবর্তনের হার বোঝায় (যেমন, উত্তরদিকে ২০ মি/সে)।
