Definition
A vasoconstrictor is a drug, hormone, or chemical that makes the smooth muscle in blood vessel walls tighten, narrowing the vessel lumen and reducing blood flow to a region; it is used in medicine to raise blood pressure, reduce bleeding, or relieve nasal congestion.
ভাসোকনস্ট্রিক্টর হলো এমন ওষুধ, হরমোন বা রাসায়নিক যা রক্তনালীর দেয়ালের মসৃণ পেশীকে সঙ্কুচিত করে নালীর ভেতরের পথ (লুমেন) সরু করে এবং কোনো অংশে রক্তপ্রবাহ কমায়; চিকিৎসায় এটি রক্তচাপ বাড়ানো, রক্তপাত কমানো বা নাক বন্ধভাব কমাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
