Definition
Terpenes are a large group of natural (and sometimes synthetic) organic compounds built from isoprene units; they often occur in plants and are responsible for many characteristic scents and flavours in essential oils, and they also form the basis of compounds like turpentine and many biological molecules.
টারপেন হলো (কখনও কৃত্রিমও) প্রাকৃতিক জৈব যৌগের একটি বৃহৎ শ্রেণি, যা আইসোপ্রিন একক দিয়ে গঠিত; এগুলো সাধারণত উদ্ভিদে থাকে এবং এসেনশিয়াল অয়েলের বহু স্বতন্ত্র গন্ধ ও স্বাদের জন্য দায়ী, পাশাপাশি টার্পেনটাইনের মতো পদার্থ ও নানা জৈব অণুর গাঠনিক ভিত্তিতেও ভূমিকা রাখে।
