Formed from taboo + the suffix -ism; taboo entered English in the late 18th century from Tongan/Polynesian tabu/tapu meaning “forbidden.”
taboo + -ism প্রত্যয় যোগে গঠিত; ‘taboo’ শব্দটি ১৮শ শতকের শেষ দিকে টোঙ্গান/পলিনেশীয় tabu/tapu (অর্থ: ‘নিষিদ্ধ’) থেকে ইংরেজিতে আসে।
Definition
Tabooism refers to the ideology, practice, or social habit of regarding particular acts, topics, words, foods, or relationships as forbidden or not to be discussed, often due to cultural, religious, or moral rules.
ট্যাবুয়িজম বলতে এমন এক ধরনের মতবাদ, চর্চা বা সামাজিক অভ্যাসকে বোঝায় যেখানে কিছু কাজ, বিষয়, শব্দ, খাবার বা সম্পর্ককে নিষিদ্ধ বা অপ্রকাশ্য/অকথ্য বলে গণ্য করা হয়—সাধারণত সাংস্কৃতিক, ধর্মীয় বা নৈতিক নিয়মের কারণে।
