Definition

A stricture is (1) a rule/condition that limits what people may do, often used in the plural (“under the strictures of…”); (2) a stern critical comment or rebuke; or (3) in medicine, an abnormal narrowing of a tube-like passage in the body (such as the urethra or intestine).

Stricture বলতে (১) এমন নিয়ম/শর্ত বোঝায় যা আচরণ বা কাজকে সীমাবদ্ধ করে—প্রায়ই বহুবচনে ব্যবহৃত হয় (“under the strictures of…”); (২) কড়া সমালোচনামূলক মন্তব্য বা তিরস্কার; অথবা (৩) চিকিৎসাবিজ্ঞানে শরীরের কোনো নালী/পথ (যেমন মূত্রনালী বা অন্ত্র) অস্বাভাবিকভাবে সরু হয়ে যাওয়া।
