মধ্য ইংরেজি spelling থেকে এসেছে; এর উৎস পুরোনো ইংরেজি spellian (“বলা/উচ্চারণ করা”), পরে অক্ষর সাজিয়ে শব্দ গঠন/পড়ার অর্থে spell দ্বারা প্রভাবিত; বহুবচন “spellings” হলো -s যোগে গঠিত।
Definition
“Spellings” refers to (1) the practice/skill of writing words with correct letters (orthography), (2) correct spelling in general, (3) particular written variants of a word, or (4) spelling tests/competitions.
“Spellings” বলতে বোঝায় (১) অক্ষর দিয়ে শব্দের বানান লেখার চর্চা/দক্ষতা (অর্থোগ্রাফি), (২) সাধারণভাবে সঠিক বানান, (৩) কোনো শব্দের নির্দিষ্ট/বিকল্প বানানরূপ, অথবা (৪) বানান পরীক্ষা/বানান প্রতিযোগিতা।
