From the verb solecize, from Late Latin solecizare, from Greek soloikízein ‘to speak incorrectly’, from Soloikoi ‘inhabitants of Soloi’, a place whose dialect was considered incorrect by Athenians.
solecize ক্রিয়া থেকে এসেছে; তা এসেছে লেট লাতিন solecizare থেকে, যা গ্রিক soloikízein (‘ভুলভাবে কথা বলা’) থেকে উদ্ভূত; Soloikoi (‘সোলোই নগরের বাসিন্দা’) শব্দের সাথে সম্পর্কিত—এথেনীয়দের কাছে ওই অঞ্চলের কথ্যরীতি নাকি অশুদ্ধ বলে ধরা হতো।
