Origin & History
From semiotics, formed from Greek sēmeion (“sign”) + -tic/-ic (“relating to”), popularized in modern linguistics and cultural theory in the 19th–20th centuries.
‘সেমিওটিক’ এসেছে ‘সেমিওটিক্স’ (চিহ্নবিদ্যা) থেকে; গ্রিক sēmeion (অর্থ ‘চিহ্ন’) + -tic/-ic (অর্থ ‘সম্পর্কিত’) উপাদান থেকে গঠিত। উনিশ ও বিশ শতকে ভাষাবিজ্ঞান ও সাংস্কৃতিক তত্ত্বে শব্দটি বিশেষভাবে প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
Semiotic describes anything connected to semiotics—the study of signs (like words, images, gestures, sounds) and the rules and contexts by which they communicate meaning.
সেমিওটিক বলতে সেমিওটিক্স/চিহ্নবিদ্যার সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত বিষয়কে বোঝায়—যেখানে শব্দ, ছবি, ভঙ্গি, ধ্বনি ইত্যাদি চিহ্ন কীভাবে অর্থ বহন করে এবং কোন নিয়ম ও প্রেক্ষিতে মানুষ তা ব্যাখ্যা করে, তা নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়।
