From Sanskrit Sāmaveda (sāman ‘song, chant’ + veda ‘knowledge, sacred lore’).
সংস্কৃত ‘সামবেদ’ (সামন/সাম ‘গান, স্তোত্র’ + বেদ ‘জ্ঞান, পবিত্র বিদ্যা’) থেকে উদ্ভূত।
Definition
The Sama-Veda is the Veda of melodies and chants; it adapts many verses from the Rig-Veda for musical recitation in sacrificial ceremonies and is closely linked with the tradition of sacred singing.
সাম- বেদ হলো সুর ও স্তোত্রের বেদ; যজ্ঞাদি বৈদিক আচার-অনুষ্ঠানে গীতিময় আবৃত্তির জন্য এটি ঋগ্বেদের বহু মন্ত্রকে সুরারোপ করে ব্যবহার করে এবং পবিত্র গায়ন-ঐতিহ্যের সঙ্গে ঘনিষ্ঠভাবে যুক্ত।
