From Sanskrit Ṛgveda: ṛc/ṛg ‘hymn, verse of praise’ + veda ‘knowledge, sacred lore’.

সংস্কৃত ‘ঋগ্বেদ’ (Ṛgveda) থেকে: ‘ঋচ্/ঋগ্’ অর্থ ‘স্তোত্র/প্রশস্তির ঋক’ + ‘বেদ’ অর্থ ‘জ্ঞান/পবিত্র বিদ্যা’।

Definition

The Rig-Veda is the earliest and most authoritative Veda, consisting mainly of hymns (suktas) addressed to Vedic deities and used in ritual recitation.

ঋগ্বেদ হলো চারটি বেদের মধ্যে প্রাচীনতম ও সর্বাধিক প্রামাণ্য বেদ; এতে প্রধানত বৈদিক দেবদেবীর উদ্দেশে রচিত স্তোত্র (সূক্ত) সংকলিত এবং যজ্ঞ-অনুষ্ঠানে আবৃত্তির জন্য ব্যবহৃত।
