Origin & History
From Latin quodlibet (“whatever you please”), from quod (“what”) + libet (“it pleases”). The term came to denote open-ended medieval debates and later specialized uses in music and art.
লাতিন quodlibet (“যা খুশি/যেকোনো কিছু”) থেকে এসেছে; quod (“কি/যা”) + libet (“পছন্দ হয়/ইচ্ছা হয়”)। প্রথমে মধ্যযুগীয় উন্মুক্ত প্রশ্নোত্তর বিতর্ক বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, পরে সঙ্গীত ও চিত্রকলার বিশেষ অর্থেও প্রচলিত হয়।
Definition
A "quodlibet" refers to several specialized things: in music, it is a composition that playfully combines different familiar tunes at the same time; in visual art, it is a trompe-l’œil image that makes ordinary items (like papers, cards, ribbons) look real; and in medieval philosophy, it is a public disputation where participants respond on the spot to any question.
"কোয়ডলিবেট" শব্দটি কয়েকটি বিশেষ ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়: সঙ্গীতে এটি এমন একটি রচনা যেখানে একাধিক পরিচিত সুর/ধুন একসাথে কাউন্টারপয়েন্টে মিশে যায়; চিত্রকলায় এটি ট্রঁপ-ল’য়েল ধাঁচের এমন ছবি যেখানে কাগজ, তাস, ফিতা ইত্যাদি দৈনন্দিন জিনিস অত্যন্ত বাস্তবের মতো দেখানো হয়; আর মধ্যযুগীয় দর্শনে এটি এমন এক ধরনের প্রকাশ্য বিতর্ক যেখানে যেকোনো প্রশ্ন তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে তোলা ও উত্তর দেওয়া যায়।
