From the adjective prurient (late 16th c.), from Latin prūrīre ‘to itch’ (figuratively ‘to be lustful’), plus the adverbial suffix -ly.
prurient বিশেষণ (১৬শ শতকের শেষভাগ) থেকে; লাতিন prūrīre ‘চুলকানো’ (রূপকার্থে ‘কামাতুর হওয়া’) শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত, পরে ক্রিয়া-বিশেষণসূচক প্রত্যয় -ly যুক্ত হয়েছে।
