Definition
A polyol is an organic compound that has two or more hydroxyl (–OH) groups; common examples include sugar alcohols like sorbitol, xylitol, and glycerol, used in foods as sweeteners/humectants and in industry for making polymers such as polyurethanes.
পলিওল হলো এমন একটি জৈব যৌগ যাতে দুই বা ততোধিক হাইড্রক্সিল (–OH) গোষ্ঠী থাকে; সাধারণ উদাহরণ হলো সরবিটল, জাইলিটল ও গ্লিসারল-এর মতো সুগার অ্যালকোহল, যা খাদ্যে মিষ্টিকারক/আর্দ্রতা-ধারক হিসেবে এবং শিল্পে পলিউরেথেনের মতো পলিমার তৈরির কাঁচামাল হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
