From Greek poētikē (tekhnē) ‘the art of poetry’, from poiein ‘to make, create’; later via Latin poetica and French poétique into English.
গ্রিক poētikē (tekhnē) ‘কবিতার শিল্প’ শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত, যার মূল poiein ‘তৈরি করা/সৃষ্টি করা’; পরে লাতিন poetica ও ফরাসি poétique হয়ে ইংরেজিতে এসেছে।
Definition
Poetics is the branch of literary study that analyzes how poetry works—its structure (meter, rhyme), sound patterns, imagery, diction, and the theories behind creating and interpreting poems.
Poetics (কাব্যতত্ত্ব/কাব্যশাস্ত্র) হলো সাহিত্য অধ্যয়নের একটি শাখা, যা কবিতা কীভাবে কাজ করে তা বিশ্লেষণ করে—এর গঠন (ছন্দ, অন্ত্যমিল), ধ্বনিগত বিন্যাস, চিত্রকল্প, শব্দচয়ন এবং কবিতা রচনা ও ব্যাখ্যার অন্তর্নিহিত তত্ত্ব।
