Formed in modern scientific English from non- (‘not’) + colloidal (from colloid, coined in the 19th century from Greek kolla ‘glue’ + -oid ‘resembling’).
আধুনিক বৈজ্ঞানিক ইংরেজিতে non- (‘না/বিহীন’) উপসর্গ + colloidal শব্দ (colloid থেকে; ১৯শ শতকে গঠিত, গ্রিক kolla ‘আঠা’ + -oid ‘সদৃশ’ থেকে) মিলিয়ে তৈরি।
Definition
Non-colloidal describes a substance, solution, or mixture that does not have colloid-type dispersed particles and therefore does not show typical colloidal properties (e.g., Tyndall effect, stable dispersion). It may be a true solution (molecularly dissolved) or a coarse suspension with larger particles that separate easily.
