আধুনিক লাতিন Nematomorpha থেকে; গ্রিক nēma অর্থ ‘সুতো/তন্তু’ + morphē অর্থ ‘আকৃতি/রূপ’—সুতোসদৃশ দেহগঠনের প্রতি ইঙ্গিত করে।
Definition
A nematomorph is a slender, threadlike worm (phylum Nematomorpha), often called a horsehair worm. Its larvae are parasites of insects and other arthropods, while the adult typically lives in freshwater and reproduces there.
নেমাটোমর্ফ হলো নেমাটোমর্ফা (Nematomorpha) পর্বের লম্বা, সুতোসদৃশ কৃমি—যাকে সাধারণত ‘হর্সহেয়ার ওয়ার্ম’ বলা হয়। এদের লার্ভা পোকামাকড়সহ বিভিন্ন আর্থ্রোপোডের দেহে পরজীবী হিসেবে বিকশিত হয়, আর প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক সাধারণত মিঠা পানিতে স্বাধীনভাবে থাকে ও সেখানে প্রজনন করে।
