গ্রিক ‘mythos’ (অর্থ: গল্প/মিথ) থেকে আগত ‘mythic’ শব্দের সাথে ‘-ize’ ও ‘-ation’ প্রত্যয় যোগে গঠিত; সাংস্কৃতিক অধ্যয়নে কোনো কিছুকে মিথসদৃশ করে তোলার প্রক্রিয়া বোঝাতে শব্দটি প্রচলিত।
Definition
Mythicization is the process by which real or fictional people, events, or ideas are reshaped into myths—often through exaggeration, selective storytelling, symbolism, and repetition—so they gain a legendary or sacred aura and function as cultural narratives rather than strict history.
মিথিকীকরণ হলো এমন একটি প্রক্রিয়া যেখানে বাস্তব বা কাল্পনিক ব্যক্তি, ঘটনা বা ধারণাকে অতিরঞ্জন, বাছাই করা গল্পকথন, প্রতীকী রূপদান ও পুনরাবৃত্তির মাধ্যমে ‘মিথ’ বা কিংবদন্তিতে রূপান্তর করা হয়—ফলে তা কঠোর ইতিহাসের বদলে সংস্কৃতিগত আখ্যান হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং এক ধরনের কিংবদন্তিসুলভ/পবিত্র আভা পায়।
