Formed in English from the adjective moving (in the sense ‘emotionally affecting’) + the noun-forming suffix -ness. Moving comes from the verb move, ultimately from Latin movere (‘to move’).

Movingness means the quality in a person, speech, story, music, or event that makes people feel strong emotions such as sadness, compassion, admiration, or tenderness.
