From Arabic خَبَر (khabar, “news, report”), via Persian and widespread South Asian usage; Bengali has the cognate ‘খবর’.
আরবি خَبَر (খাবার/খবর; অর্থ ‘সংবাদ, প্রতিবেদন’) শব্দ থেকে—ফারসি হয়ে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় ব্যাপক ব্যবহারে এসেছে; বাংলায় সমজাতীয় শব্দ ‘খবর’।
Definition
“Khobar” is a transliteration/spelling variant commonly used to represent the word for ‘news’ or ‘information’ in South Asian contexts (cf. Bengali ‘খবর’), and may also be used for a ‘report’ or ‘update’.
“খোবর/খবর” হলো ‘সংবাদ’ বা ‘তথ্য’-এর অর্থে ব্যবহৃত একটি লিপ্যন্তর/বানানভেদ (বিশেষত দক্ষিণ এশীয় প্রেক্ষিতে), এবং ‘রিপোর্ট’ বা ‘আপডেট’ অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
