Definition
A dithioacetal is the sulfur analogue of an acetal, made when an aldehyde or ketone reacts with two thiol groups (often via a dithiol), giving a carbon bonded to two sulfur-containing substituents; it is commonly used as a carbonyl protecting group in organic synthesis.
ডাইথিওঅ্যাসিটাল হলো অ্যাসিটালের সালফার-সমগোত্রীয় যৌগ, যা অ্যালডিহাইড বা কিটোন দুটি থিওল গ্রুপের (প্রায়ই ডাইথিওল) সাথে বিক্রিয়ায় তৈরি হয়; এতে একই কার্বনে দুটি সালফারযুক্ত প্রতিস্থাপক যুক্ত থাকে এবং জৈব সংশ্লেষণে কার্বোনিল গ্রুপ রক্ষাকারী (protecting group) হিসেবে ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
