গ্রিক ‘antistrophē’ থেকে; ‘anti-’ অর্থ ‘বিপরীত’ এবং ‘strophē’ অর্থ ‘ঘুরে যাওয়া/মোড়’—এই দুটি অংশের সমন্বয়।
Definition
In Greek drama and choral odes, an antistrophe is the part that follows the strophe and repeats its metrical pattern, traditionally sung as the chorus turned and moved back in the opposite direction; more generally it can mean a corresponding counter-movement or a rhetorical/compositional counterpart.
গ্রিক নাটক ও কোরাল ওডে ‘অ্যান্টিস্ট্রফি’ হলো ‘স্ট্রোফি’-র পরের অংশ, যা একই ছন্দ-ছাঁচ (মেট্রিক্যাল প্যাটার্ন) অনুসরণ করে এবং ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে কোরাস বিপরীত দিকে ঘুরে/ফিরে চলতে চলতে গাওয়া হতো; সাধারণ অর্থে এটি কোনো সমান্তরাল প্রতিপক্ষ-গতি বা অলঙ্কার/রচনায় অনুরূপ প্রতিতুল্য অংশকেও বোঝায়।
