Origin & History
From the prefix a- (“not, without”) + chiral (from Greek kheir “hand”), used in stereochemistry to mean “not handed.”
a- (অর্থ: ‘না/বিহীন’) উপসর্গ + chiral (গ্রিক kheir ‘হাত’ থেকে) — স্টেরিওকেমিস্ট্রিতে ‘হাতি বৈশিষ্ট্য নেই/চিরাল নয়’ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত।
Definition
In chemistry and stereochemistry, an achiral object or molecule is one that can be placed on top of its mirror image so that they match exactly; it has no handedness (often due to symmetry).
রসায়ন ও স্টেরিওকেমিস্ট্রিতে ‘অ্যাচাইরাল’ বলতে এমন বস্তু বা অণুকে বোঝায় যা তার আয়না-প্রতিচ্ছবির সঙ্গে সম্পূর্ণভাবে মিলিয়ে (একটির উপর আরেকটি বসিয়ে) দেওয়া যায়; এতে ‘ডান/বাম হাতি’ বৈশিষ্ট্য বা handedness থাকে না (সাধারণত সমমিতির কারণে)।
