সংস্কৃত ‘ভুবন’ (ভূ ধাতু থেকে—‘হওয়া/অস্তিত্বে থাকা’ অর্থে) শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত; প্রাচীন সাহিত্যে ‘জগৎ/লোক/সৃষ্টি’ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত
Derived from Sanskrit ‘भुवन (bhuvana)’, from the root ‘भू (bhū)’ meaning ‘to be/exist’; used in older literature to mean ‘world/realm/creation’

ভুবন বলতে সমগ্র জগৎ বা বিশ্বকে বোঝায়; কখনও পৃথিবী, কখনও মানুষের বসতি ও সমাজজীবন, আবার সাহিত্য-ধর্মীয় ব্যবহারে সমগ্র সৃষ্টি ও বিভিন্ন ‘লোক’/স্তরের জগতকেও নির্দেশ করে
ভুবন denotes the whole world or universe; it can mean the earth, human habitation and social life, and in literary/religious usage the entirety of creation and the various realms/planes of existence
