বাংলা ‘সৎ-’ (অর্থ: সৎসম্পর্ক/বিবাহসূত্রে গঠিত, জৈবিক/রক্তসম্পর্ক নয়) উপসর্গ এবং ‘ভাই’ শব্দের যোগে গঠিত; অর্থে ‘বিবাহসূত্রে গঠিত ভাই’
