Formed in Bengali as a compound of ‘সৎ’ (used in kinship to mean related through remarriage/step-relationship rather than by birth) + ‘বোন’ (sister)
Definition
যে বোনের সঙ্গে একজনের এক বাবা বা এক মা সাধারণ থাকে, কিন্তু উভয় অভিভাবক একই নয়—অর্থাৎ বাবা-মায়ের একজন ভিন্ন হওয়ায় যে বোন ‘পূর্ণ বোন’ নয় তাকে সৎবোন বলে
