সংস্কৃত ‘সন্দিগ্ধ’ (সন্ধি + ‘গ্ধ’), অর্থ ‘সন্দেহে আবৃত/আচ্ছন্ন’; বাংলা ব্যবহারে বিশেষণ হিসেবে ‘সন্দেহজনক’, এবং প্রসঙ্গভেদে বিশেষ্য হিসেবে ‘সন্দেহভাজন ব্যক্তি’ বোঝায়

From Sanskrit ‘saṁdigdha’, meaning ‘covered by doubt/uncertain’; in Bengali used as an adjective ‘dubious/suspicious’ and contextually also as a noun ‘suspect’

Definition

যার ব্যাপারে নিশ্চিত প্রমাণ বা আস্থা নেই, তাই সন্দেহের অবকাশ রাখে; অথবা যে ব্যক্তি নিজে সন্দেহ করে/সন্দেহে ভোগে—এমন অবস্থা বা ব্যক্তিকে বোঝায়
