ঈদ, বিয়ে বা অন্যান্য আনন্দোৎসবে বড়রা ছোটদেরকে বা গৃহকর্মী/পরিচিতজনকে শুভেচ্ছা ও আনন্দ ভাগাভাগির অংশ হিসেবে যে টাকা বা উপহার দেন তাকে সালামি বলা হয়
