‘প্রতি’ (বিপরীতে/জবাবে) + ‘ক্রিয়া’ (কর্ম/আচরণ) থেকে গঠিত ‘প্রতিক্রিয়া’; এর সঙ্গে লোকেটিভ বিভক্তি ‘-য়/-তে’ অর্থে ‘-য়’ যুক্ত হয়ে ‘প্রতিক্রিয়ায়’ (মানে: প্রতিক্রিয়া হিসেবে/প্রতিক্রিয়ার মধ্যে)
