সংস্কৃত ‘অন্তর্হান’ (অন্তঃ + হান/ধাতু), অর্থ ‘ভিতরে আঘাত করে লোপ করা/আড়াল করা’ থেকে বাংলা ব্যবহারে ‘অদৃশ্য হওয়া, লোপ পাওয়া’ অর্থে প্রচলিত
