সংস্কৃত ‘বেদ’ (বেদ) শব্দের সঙ্গে নঞ্-প্রত্যয় ‘অ-’ এবং বিশেষণসূচক প্রত্যয় ‘-ীয়’ যুক্ত হয়ে গঠিত
Formed from Sanskrit ‘Veda’ with the negative prefix ‘a-’ and the adjectival suffix ‘-īya’, meaning ‘not pertaining to/accepting the Vedas’
