‘নিরুত্তর’ শব্দটি ‘নি-’ (নিষেধ/অভাব) উপসর্গ ও ‘উত্তর’ (জবাব/প্রতিউত্তর) শব্দের সমাস; ‘থাকা’ ক্রিয়ার সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়ে ‘উত্তর দিতে না পেরে স্থির/নীরব থাকা’ অর্থ প্রকাশ করে

‘নিরুত্তর’ is formed from the negative prefix ‘নি-’ (absence/negation) + ‘উত্তর’ (answer/reply); combined with the verb ‘থাকা’ it conveys ‘to remain without an answer; to stay silent due to inability to reply’
