ম্যাচ বলতে সাধারণত দুটি দল/পক্ষের মধ্যে নির্দিষ্ট নিয়মে অনুষ্ঠিত প্রতিযোগিতামূলক খেলাকে বোঝায়; এছাড়া ‘মিল’ বা ‘সাদৃশ্য’ অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয় (যেমন রং/জোড়া মিলছে), এবং আরেক অর্থে আগুন জ্বালাতে ব্যবহৃত দেশলাই কাঠিকেও বলা হয়
