বাংলা ধাতু ‘কুড়া/কুড়ানো’ (কুড়িয়ে নেওয়া, সংগ্রহ করা) থেকে ‘-নি’ প্রত্যয়ে গঠিত; অর্থ ‘কুড়োনোর কাজ/কুড়িয়ে নেওয়া জিনিস’
