সংস্কৃত ‘বিহগ’ (অর্থ: পাখি; ‘বিহ’ = আকাশ/বিস্তার, ‘গ’ = গমনকারী—অর্থাৎ আকাশে গমনকারী) থেকে বাংলায় এসেছে
