Definition
In geography, a Yazoo (or Yazoo stream) is a tributary that flows along the floodplain of a main river behind natural levees, running nearly parallel for some distance before finally entering the main river. It is also used as a proper name (e.g., the Yazoo River and Yazoo City in Mississippi).
