From Middle English “wherefore” meaning “for what (reason), why,” from “where” + “for”; later also used with the sense “therefore.”
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी “wherefore” से, जिसका अर्थ “किस कारण से, क्यों” था; यह “where” + “for” से बना। बाद में पुराने/साहित्यिक प्रयोग में कभी-कभी “इसलिए/अतः” के अर्थ में भी आया।
Definition
“Wherefore” asks for the reason or cause of something; it means “why?” and not “where?”. It is common in older literature (e.g., Shakespeare) and in legal writing.
“Wherefore” किसी बात का कारण/वजह पूछने के लिए प्रयोग होता है; इसका अर्थ “क्यों?” होता है, “कहाँ?” नहीं। यह पुराने साहित्य (जैसे शेक्सपीयर) और कानूनी भाषा में अधिक मिलता है।
