Definition
Trot can be a verb meaning to move briskly with short, quick steps (faster than walking, slower than running), often used for people and animals; as a noun it refers to this pace or, in horses, a two-beat gait. It can also mean to bring someone out or cause something to appear, as in 'trot out an excuse.'
