From Latin transitus (“a going across”), from transire (“go across”), from trans- (“across”) + ire (“to go”); used in English from the late Middle English period.
लैटिन transitus (“पार जाना/गुज़रना”) से, जो transire (“पार जाना”) से बना है: trans- (“पार/आर-पार”) + ire (“जाना”); अंग्रेज़ी में इसका प्रयोग उत्तर मध्य अंग्रेज़ी काल से मिलता है।
Definition
Transit refers to movement from one place to another, especially the passage through an area or the transport system used (buses, trains, etc.); it can also mean a temporary stop/period while traveling, and in astronomy it means a planet passing across the face of the sun or another body.
ट्रांज़िट का अर्थ एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान तक जाना/गुज़रना है, विशेषकर किसी क्षेत्र से होकर गुजरना या परिवहन-व्यवस्था (बस, ट्रेन आदि); यह यात्रा के दौरान अस्थायी ठहराव/अवधि के लिए भी आता है, और खगोल विज्ञान में इसका अर्थ किसी ग्रह का सूर्य या किसी अन्य पिंड के सामने से होकर गुजरना होता है।
