From Middle English spider, spydyr, from Old English spīthra/spīdra (a spider), of Germanic origin.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी spider/spydyr से, जो पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी spīthra/spīdra (अर्थ: मकड़ी) से आया; इसकी जड़ जर्मैनिक भाषाओं में मानी जाती है।
Definition
A spider is an eight-legged predatory arachnid (order Araneae), many of which spin silk webs to catch prey; the word is also used for a computer program that crawls web links to collect information, and for several tools/utensils with radiating legs or a wire-mesh head.
मकड़ी आठ पैरों वाला शिकारी अरैक्निड (Araneae गण) है; इनमें से कई शिकार पकड़ने के लिए रेशमी जाला बुनती हैं। यह शब्द वेब पर लिंक अनुसरण करके जानकारी जुटाने वाले कंप्यूटर प्रोग्राम (वेब क्रॉलर) के लिए भी, तथा पैरों/किरणों जैसी बनावट या जालीदार मुख वाले कुछ औज़ारों/बर्तनों के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
