Origin & History
From the verb redact, via Latin redigere (“to bring back, reduce, bring into order”), from re- (“back”) + agere (“to do, drive”). Modern sense ‘prepare/edit a text’ and later ‘remove sensitive parts’ developed in legal/government contexts.
यह ‘redact’ क्रिया से आया है, जो लैटिन redigere (“वापस लाना, घटाना, क्रम में लाना”) से बना है: re- (“वापस”) + agere (“करना/चलाना”). आधुनिक अर्थ पहले ‘पाठ तैयार/संपादित करना’ और बाद में सरकारी/कानूनी संदर्भों में ‘संवेदनशील हिस्से हटाना/छिपाना’ के रूप में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
Redacting means editing a document to hide, block out, or remove confidential, personal, or legally protected information (often with black bars) before it is released.
Redacting का अर्थ है किसी दस्तावेज़ को जारी/साझा करने से पहले उसमें से गोपनीय, व्यक्तिगत या कानूनी रूप से संरक्षित जानकारी को छिपाने, ढकने (अक्सर काली पट्टियों से) या हटाने के लिए संपादन करना।
