फ़्रेंच rappeler (“वापस बुलाना”) से, जो appel (“बुलावा/पुकार”) से संबंधित है; बाद में अंग्रेज़ी में पर्वतारोहण और सैन्य संदर्भों में रस्सी के सहारे उतरने के अर्थ में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Rappel means going down a cliff, wall, or steep slope by controlling your descent with a rope and equipment (often used in climbing, rescue, and the military). It can also mean to call a trained hawk back in falconry.
Rappel का अर्थ है रस्सी और उपकरणों की मदद से चट्टान, दीवार या खड़ी ढलान से नियंत्रित तरीके से नीचे उतरना (यह पर्वतारोहण, बचाव कार्य और सेना में उपयोग होता है)। बाज़-पालन (falconry) में इसका अर्थ प्रशिक्षित बाज़ को वापस बुलाना भी होता है।
