From rake (meaning a dissolute or licentious man) + -ish; influenced by the older sense relating to the raking (slanting) of masts or structures. First recorded in the 19th century.
rake (अय्याश/लंपट व्यक्ति) + -ish से बना; पुराने अर्थ में ‘raking’ यानी मस्तूल/संरचना का तिरछा झुकाव भी प्रभावी रहा। इसका प्रयोग 19वीं शताब्दी में दर्ज मिलता है।
Definition
Rakish describes someone who looks confidently stylish and attractive, often with a hint of irresponsibility or bad-boy charm; it can also describe something that is slanted, as in a “rakish angle.”
