ग्रीक pyro- (अर्थ: “आग”) + -mania (अर्थ: “उन्माद/जुनून”) से बना शब्द; 19वीं शताब्दी में आधुनिक चिकित्सीय/मनोचिकित्सीय शब्दावली में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Pyromania is a mental disorder in which a person repeatedly and deliberately sets fires, feels tension before the act, and experiences relief or gratification afterward; it is different from arson done for profit, revenge, or ideology.
पायरोमेनिया एक मानसिक विकार है जिसमें व्यक्ति बार-बार और जानबूझकर आग लगाता है, करने से पहले तनाव महसूस करता है और बाद में राहत या आनंद अनुभव करता है; यह लाभ, बदले या विचारधारा के लिए किए गए आगज़नी (arson) से अलग है।
