From French prude (‘virtuous, demure, prudish’), ultimately related to the idea of being ‘wise/prudent’; used in English from the early modern period.
यह शब्द फ़्रेंच prude (‘सदाचारी/संयमी/संकोची’) से आया है और मूल रूप से ‘विवेकी/सावधान (prudent)’ होने की धारणा से जुड़ा है; अंग्रेज़ी में इसका प्रयोग आरंभिक आधुनिक काल से मिलता है।
Definition
A prude is someone who behaves or claims to behave very morally or properly and is often uncomfortable with, or offended by, sexual topics; it can also describe something/someone as prudish.
'प्रूड' वह व्यक्ति है जो बहुत ज़्यादा शिष्ट/नैतिक दिखने की कोशिश करता है और अक्सर यौन विषयों पर असहज या आसानी से आहत हो जाता है; यह शब्द किसी चीज़/व्यक्ति के 'अति-संकोची' होने के लिए विशेषण के रूप में भी आता है।
