Origin & History
From prosthesis (Greek prostithenai ‘to add to’) + -ist (a person who practices a profession); prosthetist became common in modern clinical usage in the 20th century.
‘प्रोस्थेसिस’ (ग्रीक prostithenai, अर्थ ‘जोड़ना/लगाना’) + ‘-ist’ (पेशा करने वाला व्यक्ति) से; ‘prosthetist’ शब्द 20वीं शताब्दी में आधुनिक क्लिनिकल उपयोग में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
A prosthetist is a trained clinician who assesses a patient’s needs and then designs, makes, fits, and maintains prostheses (artificial limbs or body parts) to restore function, comfort, and mobility.
प्रोस्थेटिस्ट एक प्रशिक्षित स्वास्थ्य-विशेषज्ञ होता/होती है जो मरीज की जरूरतों का आकलन करके कृत्रिम अंग (प्रोस्थेसिस) का डिज़ाइन, निर्माण/तैयारी, फिटिंग और रखरखाव करता/करती है, ताकि कार्यक्षमता, आराम और गतिशीलता बेहतर हो सके।
